Read About the Traditional Indian Tandoori Dishes

When it comes to tandoori dishes, a certain population mistake the dish as a proper well-defined recipe. Although expert Indian chefs describe tandoori as a style of cooking, there is no recipe laid down except the use of the oven. The oven or the Tandoor was earlier used to cook Indian and Mughlai bread, however, as time passed by, the equipment was leveraged to make some of the authentic Indian and Bihari recipes. The oven is quite big enough to hold immaculate space for carrying small flame by the slow lighting of wood charcoal.

You can enjoy dishes made out of tandoor at your home without much hassle. In case you have been newly introduced to Indian cuisines or you have never tried the tandoori style of cooking, here are some dishes that you must try for a change in taste:

Tandoori Murgh

Also known as Tandoori Chicken, the Tandoori Murgh is one of the most favourite Indian dish for many people, especially due to its hot, spicy and perfectly cooked nature. Tandoori chicken is one of those Indian foods that does not contain any kind of curry. Loved by people worldwide, the Tandoori Murgh is also liked by chefs due to its simple preparation. All they have to do is properly marinate the veggies or meats before putting them into the tandoor for cooking. Tandoori Chicken can be tried anytime, as the savoury dish is placed in the category of both starters and the Indian healthy breakfast recipes.

Naan

Being one of the most prominent Indian bread, the Naan is premier choice for people who like eating gravy dishes. Unlike the preparation of Chapati, the flour dough used in making Naans is placed in the tandoor in order to get it well cooked. This exclusive Indian bread also goes well with famous Tandoori dishes like Tandoori Murgh, Kebabs and Paneer ka Tikka.

Chicken Tikka and Chicken Tikka Masala

In Indian culinary dictionary, the term “tikka” means small pieces or chunks. When the chunks or small pieces of meat, paneer or veggies are marinated and placed in the Tandoori using robust Indian spices following the preparation of the Bihari recipes, it can be used both as kebab and in chicken starters. Whilst this was the dry variant of Chicken Tikka, the gravy version of Chicken Tikka is made using Indian curry spices and is called Chicken Tikka Masala. The gravy of Chicken tikka masala is creamy and thick, generating a smokey flavour due to its former cooking in the tandoor. Both Chicken Tikka and Chicken Tikka Masala is served with Indian breads to get the real taste of the dish.

Reshmi Kebab

Kebabs are one of the most common dishes that is cooked in the tandoor. When it comes to having the juiciest of kebabs, the Reshmi kebab seems to be an ideal choice. The key is to marinate the chicken well whilst placing it in the tandoor. Reshmi kebabs are best served with a green coloured chutney known as the Mint-Coriander chutney that goes well for an Indian healthy breakfast recipe.

The tandoori style of cooking is different from other Indian cooking methods. The application of the oven and tandoor requires expertise and proficiency.
